He was incredibly knowledgeable, we could ask him anything, and he always had an answer. It was clear, that he really understands the country, its culture, and its history. What we especially appreciated was his flexibility. Whenever we needed something along the way, even something practical like stopping at an ATM to withdraw money, he made it happen without any hassle. He was professional, accommodating, and made us feel completely comfortable throughout the tour. It was truly a top experience. Geen idee wat we konden verwachten en met enige gezonde spanning besloten we een locale gids in te schakelen. Dit was een erg goed idee. Zonder gids wordt je in The Gambia namelijk erg veel aangesproken, tot zeer vervelend en ongemakkelijk aan toe. Het is niet veilig als toerist alleen de straten te verkennen. Dit is met een gids niet het geval en hij kan je dus of zelf, of samen met een chauffeur meenemen naar en vertellen over de leukste en meest inspirerende plekken van het land. En daarmee best een heel avontuur. Omdat we ook wat van het land wilden zien hebben we contact gezocht met een lokale gids, Moe. Daar hebben we geen spijt van gehad. We zijn drie dagen samen op pad geweest. We voelden ons meteen op ons gemak, hij wist veel vertellen en voelde goed aan wat we nodig hadden en waar we enthousiast over waren. Hij was aanwezig zonder opdringerig te zijn. Ook zorgde hij goed voor ons met voldoende water en verse sinaasappels. He took great care of us (an older couple) for four days from Banjul to Janjanbureh and on to Saloum Delta. He arranged the local guides after advising us on the best activities and timings. He frequently checked to make sure that we were comfortable and content, and was happy to make amendments to our programme when we asked. We visited the stone circles, the slave houses and a boat safari in the river. The hosts had arranged for everything and took good care of us throughout the journey.
